Sulivan School and the Old Pals Act

Our borough is once again in Private Eye this week. This time it is about Councillors and their connections to people who stand to benefit from the closure of Sulivan School.It's based on a report on the Left Foot Forward web site.

Love Private Eye and LBHF is deserving of being a regular feature in it but thought this one was a bit tenuous. There probably is some marginal economic benefit to some Councillors if Sulivan's free nursery care shuts down but given the fees the private nurseries charge I doubt there is much crossover in terms of usage.The issue was discussed in parliament this week and seemed to descend to  the level of pantomime. I will admit to actually quite liking Michael Gove mainly because his detractors often are so dreadful but his reply to Andrew Slaughter wasn't good. Am I right in saying that he attended Latymer Upper before it became fee-paying therefore to describe him as a public-school boy is inaccurate?http://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2014-02-10a.552.8&s=speaker%3A11559#g553.1
