Outdoor garden games will form part of the day
April 28, 2025
Fulham Palace is once again holding its green meet, an annual event which aims to celebrate gardening, biodiversity and community. Set within the Palace’s historic garden, this family-friendly festival offers an opportunity to explore nature, learn from experts and take part in hands-on activities.
The event, which is taking place from 11am to 3pm on Sunday 11 May, will feature a diverse programme of educational walks and talks, covering topics such as birdlife, bees, biodiversity and sustainable gardening. A beginner birdwatching session and a mini beast hunt will offer insights into the wildlife that thrives at the Palace. A wild tea-making and wellness workshop invites participants to experience the calming art of tea.
There will also be outdoor garden games, a wild woodland adventure promenade and green woodworking demonstrations. Visitors can also take part in the charity tombola, with all proceeds supporting the Palace.
A green market will showcase local stallholders offering eco-friendly products and garden-inspired goods. The Palace’s own garden barrow will be selling freshly harvested organically grown produce, homemade jams and chutneys and hand-picked seasonal flowers, all cultivated within the historic walled garden.
Visitors can enjoy a wide selection of food vendors as well as the drawing room café. Live music will provide a backdrop to the day’s activities.
Raphaela Ashford, event organiser said, “We can’t wait to welcome visitors back to one of our favourite annual events! The green meet is all about bringing people together to enjoy nature, gardening and sustainable living. As London’s second-oldest botanic garden, Fulham Palace has a long tradition of growing and inspiring others to do the same. As an independent charity, events like this help support the Palace and keep it open and free for everyone to enjoy. It is a great way to explore the gardens, pick up eco-friendly ideas and connect with the community.”
Tickets for the green meet event are available to purchase online at £3.00 for a child and £5.00 for an adult. Tickets will also be available for purchase on the door.
Some activities and workshop are paid and require additional booking.
Fulham Palace is at Bishop’s Avenue, (SW6 6EA).
