Austin Caballero, 41 suspected of offences in high end stores
Police have named the man they are trying to trace in connection with a series of thefts committed at 'high end' and designer stores across London, including our local area.
Austin Caballero, 41, was identified following an earlier appeal by police on 13 August.
At the time, he was being sought in connection with 17 thefts, but that number has now risen to 25.
Detectives says they would like to question him in connection with thefts committed between 20 February 2014 and 29 June 2015.
Jewellery, clothing, handbags, purses, cosmetics and sunglasses worth £35,000 were stolen from stores in Westminster, Camden, Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham.
Officers also believe he may well be linked to other offences dating as far back to 2011, including the theft of a 17th century bronze mounted stag on marble base valued at £2,800.
A Metropolitan Police Super Recogniser linked him to all the different offences after scanning thousands of images, despite them being spread across a wide geographic area of London.
Caballero is believed to have links to the Hanwell area in the borough of Ealing, West London.
Detective Sergeant Eliot Porritt, of the MPS Proactive Super Recogniser Unit says: "Thanks to some excellent information from members of the public, we would like to speak with Mr Caballero in connection with offences committed in high-end and designer outlets as far back as 2011. Jewellery, clothing, cosmetics and even antiques have all been stolen.
"The theft spree has been relentless. We would like to speak to Mr Caballero as soon as possible and would advise him to visit his nearest police station immediately."
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr Caballero should call local police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. If he is seen please call 999 immediately.
