Foodstore on North End Road will also contain a Post Office

The Co-operative Group is making plans to take over the vacant premises at 320 North End Road.

The site at the junction with Tournay Road and adjacent to Poundland was formerly the home of Bright House the furniture and domestic appliance supplier.

It is now set to host a new convenience foodstore with a Post Office counter inside.

The group has submitted a planning application for illuminated logos and signs above the store shop front as well the sign for the Post Office

The site lies within the new extension to the Walham Green Conservation Area, as adopted in 2018 but is not listed as a Building of Merit on the Local List. The application document argues that the signage in the new supermarket will be less intrusive than that of the existing unit.

This application follows a separate application for shopfront alterations and the insertion of louvres ref. 2020/02631/FUL which is currently pending determination.

Comments on the latest application have to be submitted by 21 April.

Co-op were contacted for comment and they said they would provide further details about the store opening date when available.
