Developer wants to knock down Alexander House on Peterborough Road

An application has been submitted to Hammersmith and Fulham Council for an office development in Parsons Green.
A developer wants to knock down the buildings at 14-16 Peterborough Road and 17 Peterborough Mews and put up a replacement part four, part five storey building plus basement for commercial use.
The developer’s architects Tate Hindle says that the Alexander House building on the site does not meet current standards and could not be brought up to a satisfactory level even with a significant refurbishment. They also say that the building in Peterborough Mews has declined into a state of disrepair because it does not meet current regulations and therefore has remained unoccupied.
Alexander House was originally a warehouse / factory for a handbag company and was constructed in the 1950’s.
17 Peterborough Mews may have been originally constructed as a coach house but Tate Hindle say it is too small to meet the Technical Housing Standards requirement for a one-bed two-storey dwelling.

The developer says it consulted with the local community as much as it could and claims to have received generally positive feedback including from the Fulham Society during a site visit.
According to the architect, the proposed building has been designed to align appropriately with both the Peterborough Road and Peterborough Mews street elevations.
The planning reference for the application is 2020/02668/FUL.
