He is also accused of punching PC Darren Toogood before he was arrested at his flat after the alleged axe rampage.

No children were in class during the incident, which happened on a Saturday at around 8.15am.

King was later charged with three counts of threatening a person with an offensive weapon on school premises, one count of possessing an offensive weapon on school premises, one count of assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty and one count of causing criminal damage.

He appeared at Westminster magistrates' court and was told his case will be dealt with at Isleworth crown court.

King is yet to enter pleas.

Chair of the bench Robert Westlake said: "This matter is going to be sent to Isleworth crown court on the 20 November, you must be there at 9.30am.

"You are on conditional bail."

While on bail, he has been ordered not to enter the grounds of the primary school, which is yards away from Parsons Green Lane and Station, scene of last month's terrorist bomb attack and a fatal stabbing earlier this month.

Holy Cross School applied in July this year to H&F Council for permission to expand by demolishing two existing outbuildings and adding two new classrooms, as well as a new reception area and a number of other alterations to change the school from One Form Entry to Two Forms.

The full application, which was approved by the council can be seen here.
