Exhibition part of Show 18 featuring work by over 800 emerging artists
White City Place in Wood Lane is hosting the Royal College of Art graduate show 2018 from this Saturday, 23 June.
The exhibition, called Show Communication, aims to explore the frontiers of virtual reality, sound, moving image, animation, graphic design, illustration, digital design and post-digital spaces and beyond.
The diverse show will look at topics ranging from the culture of British hen parties to a graphic novel about Cumbria, complete with Kendal Mint Cake sculptures, the smell of peppermint oil, damp bark and archival sounds.
A particular theme examining the way smaller day-to-day stress can build up to a break down aims to break down stigmas of mental health by portraying issues in a positive and realistic light.
Look out for a wearable device that amplifies electromagnetic fields allowing the wearer to feel and hear normally-undetectable electromagnetic fields.
This exhibition is part of Show 2018, featuring work by more than 800 emerging artists and designers. The Royal College of Art graduate show is renowned for combining quality, imagination and skill and the show has a track record for launching the big names of the future.
This year’s works are being showcased across four unique venues - the others are Battersea, Vauxhall and Kensington.
The Show 18 exhibitions are free, with much of the work for sale or commission – ranging from paintings to prints, glassware to jewellery and furniture to textiles.
The exhibition at MediaWorks and WestWorks in White City Place is open daily from Saturday 23 June to Sunday 1 July, from noon till 6pm. (Closed on 29 June).
White City Place has become a hub for the creative industries, including ITV Studios, the BBC and Yoox Net-a-Porter as well as the RCA.
In May the first large scale public art commission for White City Place launched in collaboration with the Royal College of Art. The exhibition, Every Second In Between, showcasing the work of artist Kyung Hwa Shon runs until August.
It features a site-specific abstract art installation distributed across the new public spaces in White City Place, celebrating local landmarks and our urban landscape, including the iconic Grenfell Tower, Television Centre, Loftus Road Football Stadium, Westway and the White City housing estate.
White City Place, on the site of the former BBC Media Village is a new business district in West London being developed by Stanhope, AIMCo and Mitsui Fudosan.
