Strangler Brothers Convicted of String of Robberies

Fulham man cleared of attack on designer committed by brother

Two brothers, one of whom lived in the Fulham Court

estate, have been convicted of stalking a string of women

across London - including several in Fulham - before

strangling and robbing them.

Among their victims was top fashion designer Nicole Farhi.

Matthew Mykoo, 27, of Windsor Road in Brent, admitted to this robbery, but his brother Daniel Mykoo, 28, of Fulham Court, was acquitted of this charge by the judge.

At Wood Green Crown Court on Wednesday, Matthew Mykoo was found guilty of seven robberies. He had previously pleaded guilty to two further robberies on May 27.

Daniel Mykoo had previously pleaded guilty to 19 robberies

and two motor vehicle offences at Wood Green Crown
Court on March 24.

Both will now face a two day sentencing hearing on July 23

and 24, and, addressing Matthew Mykoo in court, Judge Nicholas Browne said he could not rule out a life sentence.

"I warn you in very clear terms that an indeterminate sentence for public protection is virtually inevitable, bearing in mind the numbers and the fact that these robberies were of the most serious type I have ever encountered," he said.

After stalking lone women while walking home, the brothers attacked from behind, strangling their victim until she was almost unconscious. They would then remove jewellery, watches and handbags before running off.

It is believed that Daniel would strangle the victim whilst Matthew took her property.

During the trial, Nicole Farhi, who is the wife of playwright Sir David Hare, gave a graphic description of being choked until she blacked out as she was returning to her Hampstead home.

" One hand came on to my eyes, the other onto my throat," she said. " He squeezed and I fainted. My last thought was how stupid to die in front of my house."

After fainting, she was robbed of a ring, money and a Rolex watch.

Giving evidence at the trial, police said the Mykoos robbed 19 women and one man either jointly or separately between March and June last year.

Detective Constable Reg Pickering, of Barnet CID, said: "During the course of this
investigation we have obtained overwhelming evidence which has assisted us with the conviction of these two brothers.

"The level of violence used in these attacks is extremely unusual and a number of boroughs
worked closely together to identify a common link and to bring the Mykoo brothers to justice.

"I am extremely pleased that we were able to recover some particularly sentimental items of
jewellery to their rightful owners as a result of visiting a number of pawn shops."
