South Western Railways experience more delays after Bank Holiday weekend
The engineering work at London Waterloo that was due to be completed over the Bank Holiday Weekend overran causing significant disruptionon Tuesday (29 August). South Western Railway hoped to restore a normal timetable by the afternoon but disruption continued into the evening.
An issue arose in the morning while signalling equipment was being tested and platforms 1-14 at Waterloo remain out of operation.
Queueing systems were be in place at various stations across the network.
Queenstown Road and Earlsfield stations were exceptionally busy.
Problems continued for the rest of the week with with the communication equipment that connects the signalling centre to signalling equipment failing in the Wimbledon area on Thursday. This meant that fewer trains were able to run on lines between London Waterloo and Surbiton, Barnes and Norbiton. Widespread delays continued into the afternoon.
London Underground accepts customers on reasonable routes in South West London, and to transfer between London Waterloo, London Victoria, and London Paddington stations.
