Mike Wood to run Hammersmith & Fulham Primary Care Trust
There is a new name overseeing NHS healthcare in Hammersmith and Fulham. Mike Wood has been appointed as Chief Executive of Hammersmith and Fulham Primary Care Trust.
Mr Wood joined the PCT on 1 November. He has held a number of senior management roles in the NHS, most recently at Surrey and Sussex Health Authority, where he was Director of Service Improvement. Prior to that Mike had been Chief Executive of Mid Sussex Primary Care Trust.
Chair of Hammersmith and Fulham PCT, Adrian Norridge, welcomed Mr Wood saying: “I’m very pleased that Mike has joined us. Mike has a wide range of experience and particular interests in health improvement and developing community services, which will fit right in with the our current priorities.”
Mike said: “I am delighted to be joining such a well regarded PCT and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. A high priority for the NHS is the development of more community services, and I’m pleased to see Hammersmith and Fulham has grasped this challenge with both hands. There are already GPs with special skills offering minor surgery and dermatology treatments which previously needed a hospital appointment, and local district nurses and pharmacists are also doing work that used to required hospital visits.“
He replaces Chris Butler who has taken on the Chief Executive role at the newly formed Surrey Primary Care Trust. The Healthcare Commission published performance ratings for all NHS organisations last month. Hammersmith and Fulham Primary Care Trust was given an overall rating of fair – the same as the majority of PCTs in the country.
