Local Restaurant Looks Set For Closure After Death of Chef Patron

A much loved local restaurant faces closure after the death of its chef and owner Pascal Ardilly.

The talented chef, who opened of L'Auberge Restaurant on the Upper Richmond Road with his wife Christine seventeen years ago, sadly passed away on Wednesday 27 June. His funeral was held on 9 July.

Pascal trained as a patissier/ chocolatier /glacier in France but came to this country over 30 years ago and the restaurant was his pride and joy.

L’Auberge was a family run French restaurant that featured in the Michelin guide. All their dishes were prepared to order with carefully selected fresh ingredients. It held regular gastronomic evenings.

It is understood that the demise of Pascal may make it necessary to close the restaurant depriving Christine of her livelihood.

The Putney Food Assembly have started a fund raising campaign to support Christine.

Floriane Malot said , “At Putney Food Assembly, we have enjoyed Pascal's cooking at home, just as much as in their restaurant, and he will be dearly missed by all of us.

“We would like to invite you to join us and contribute to a pot that we will give to Christine as a way to support her in these hard times, for her to use as she sees fit.”

A fundraising page has been set up for anyone who would like to contribute.
