Early Morning Fire In East Putney


25 firefighters were called to the blaze at a flat on Evenwood Close

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Evenwood Close in East Putney in the early hours of Saturday (9 May) morning.

Part of the five roomed flat on the second floor of the building was damaged by fire. A small part of the balcony of another flat on the second floor was also damaged by fire.

Two men had left the building before the Brigade arrived and they were treated on scene after suffering from smoke inhalation.

The Brigade was called at 4.43am with 14 calls reporting the fire and the incident was under control by 6.06am.

Fire crews came from Wandsworth, Fulham, Battersea and Chelsea fire stations - the cause of the fire is under investigation.
