SW6 average price driven down by Doulton House sales
The average price of a property sold in the SW6 post code area has fallen sharply during the month of October.
According to figures from the Land Registry there were 91 properties sold in Fulham at an average price of £728,656.
This is well down on the levels seen during the summer when the monthly average was over £900,000. The main reason for the decline appears to have been the sales of lower priced units in the Doulton House development on Park Street. There were 17 of these properties sold during the month, most at prices well below the previous average for the area.
Of the other properties sold 20 went for over one million pounds with the most expensive being a house on Finlay Street which cost £2,550,000.
The October data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price increase of 1.1 per cent which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £161,605. This is marginally up on the previous month. London continues to be the area of the country with the fastest rising prices up by 7.0 per cent over the last year.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during August 2012, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales decreased by 3 per cent to 62,291 compared with 64,417 in August 2011.
The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in August 2012 increased by 12 per cent to 843 from 753 in August 2011.
