Buzz on Broadway as Union Market Opens

New grocery store and restaurant promises Best of British

UNION Market, Fulham's much anticipated new store and restaurant, opens its doors to the public on Thursday July 8.

The store will be open from 8am till 8pm on Monday to Saturday and noon till 6pm on Sunday, and earlybirds can also take out coffee and bakery food from 7am during the week.

The new store, which takes the place of T.G.I. Friday's in the former Fulham Broadway tube station, is a brand new venture which promises to offer " everything we love about the farmers' markets - fabulous choice, first-class provenance, inspired know-how and an opportunity to buy from traceable British growers and food suppliers - with the advantages of a supermarket - long operating hours, daily opening, a regular product range, free delivery and parking."

The store, which has been extensively refurbished and opened up, is dedicated to the best of seasonal British food and will have wine and spirits, butcher, baker, cheese and fruit and vegetable as well as its own grocery and deli.

Suppliers include Neals Yard Bakery, the Fresh Pasta Company, Olives et Al and the Bread Factory, and among the wines and spirits will be a range of Rothschild wines priced from £6 to £250 for the famous Grand Vin. Wine can also be ordered online and there is a free home delivery service for both wine and food in the local area, using the store's eco-friendly electric van.

The UNION Market Kitchen, which can seat up to 40 people will be open throughout the day for breakfast, lunch and supper and for snacks in between, and shoppers can also take out everything from teas and coffees to entire prepared meals.

Shoppers who use Fulham Broadway car park will have their first hour's parking refunded if they spend £50 or more.

UNION Market is not the only new opening currently creating a buzz on Fullham Broadway. Works has also begun turning the former Borders bookstore into Britain's newest bank Metro Bank, which promises to change to face of banking by opening seven days a week from 8am till 8pm with the emphasis on friendly customer service.

The branch is currently due to open in October.
