Second event proves another successful traffic free day
More than 14,000 people visited North End Road's Christmas Market on Saturday December 12 for the second of the road’s festive events.
They enjoyed shopping at around 150 stalls and were entertained by live performers, a funfair and a visit from Santa.
This event followed the first traffic-free Christmas market
on November 28. These traffic free markets are part of Hammersmith & Fulham council’s drive, together with residents in the North End Road Action Group, to revive this major high street in Fulham.
The Christmas markets follow on the success of last year’s traffic-free festive market and a summer market in June.
Shoppers had a wide range of stalls to peruse, from the familiar fruit and veg to crafts produced by talented local people and designer clothes, such as Pocket which is joint-owned by Made in Chelsea star Louise Thompson. She officially switched on the road’s Christmas lights at the last event.
The crowds were kept entertained by a wide range of performers, including the West London Rock Choir, Fulham Brass Band, Fulham Opera, stilt-walkers, a one man band and much more.
" Once again North End Road was packed with people enjoying everything this vibrant street has to offer,” said Councillor Andrew Jones, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration.
" Not only do these events bring this historic street to life, they are the perfect opportunity for first-time traders to try their hand.
" It’s all part of our drive to regenerate the market, the road and the area for traders, shops and the community."
