Munster Residents Quiz Commander at Police Roadshow

Meeting at St Peter's Church launches roadshows touring borough

esidents in Fulham's Munster ward attended the borough’s first localised crime-fighting road show on June 20 to discuss tackling crime and a spate of burglaries in their patch.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council says as part of a new, more responsive approach the police and council are asking residents to work more closely with them to target crime on a ward based level.

Compared to the rest of the borough Munster has seen a modest rise in the number of burglaries recently and the road show was a chance to share ideas on how to avoid being a victim of crime.

Police Borough Commander, Chief Superintendent Lucy D'Orsi, led the initial " How are we doing on crime" meeting at St Peter’s Church, Fulham, and took questions from local people on a range or crime related issues.

Ch Supt D'Orsi said: "The new ward based crime road shows are an innovative way of working in partnership with the council and residents to combat localised crime and anti-social behaviour issues. I was delighted that residents attended the new style event to provide feedback to us.

" It also gave us an opportunity to provide practical crime prevention advice such as keeping sash windows secure, not leaving valuables on display and ensuring robust locks are on doors."

There were also stalls at the road show providing further crime prevention advice and the chance for people to meet their local police team.

Councillor Greg Smith, H&F Council Deputy Leader, also attended the meeting. He said: “Borough-wide we are winning the fight against crime and have seen the number of offences drop year-on-year but there are pockets where things can improve further.

"The localised crime-fighting road shows are a new weapon in the battle against the criminal minority."

The event was supported by the borough’s Neighbourhood Watch Association and was organised by the council in association with the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime.

The road show will now tour the borough to give residents a chance to speak with the authorities about the problems affecting their area.
