Dear Resident,

I hope you are well.

I am writing to you today regarding the controversial decision by Sadiq Khan and TfL to reduce the Number 14 bus service.

Since 12 February 2022, number 14 bus users have seen their service reduced from every 7 minutes to every 10 minutes.

This bus is already the slowest in London, with TfL bus speed figures showing that in the 4 week period from 13th November 2021 to 11th December 2021, the average speed on route 14 was just 6.1mph, which is only slightly faster than a brisk walk!

This change will therefore make what is the slowest bus route in London even slower and busier, making the queues at bus stops longer, adding to the delay, as more and more passengers cram in.

Like me, I know that many of you will use this bus service frequently. With the Number 14 bus going via Putney Bridge Station, Fulham Broadway, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and South Kensington Station, the importance of this bus route to both Chelsea and Fulham residents is clear.

Whether it be vulnerable users going to and from the hospital, commuters on their way to work or residents travelling to the shops, the Number 14 bus is an essential service used regularly by much of our local community.

Moreover, many bus journeys in Chelsea and Fulham are made by disabled and older people who find using the tube system difficult, particularly due to the lack of step-free access at Putney Bridge and Parsons Green tube stations. Reducing services that are used proportionally more by disabled and older people is a policy that I strongly oppose.

As you will remember from my resignation from the Government in 2018 to vote against the third runway at Heathrow, I always put my constituents and local area first. I have therefore started a petition calling on Sadiq Khan and TfL to reverse the cuts to the Number 14 bus service.

I encourage all residents to sign this petition to save this essential service
