Parchment, paper and velum: Caring for historic books, Wednesday 13 November, 10m - 2.30pm
Join Antia, Fulham Palace's conservation assistant, and get hands on with the books in our collection. Find out how the team care for fragile historic books and learn cleaning, dusting and brushing techniques from a professional.

Freemasons Hospital No.2 at Fulham Palace, Thursday 14 November, 2pm - 3pm
During World War I Fulham Palace became a war hospital.
Join us as we take a closer look at the people who lived and worked at the hospital using the diary of one of the nurses, Sister Mary Latchmore. Research by our archivists has led us to learn more about the backgrounds of the staff and patients, the units they served in, the injuries they suffered and the lives they went on to lead.

Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC): Artefact identification, Saturday 16 November, 10.20am - 12.5pm
Each month YAC members aged eight to 16 investigate different themes, with activities that can range from learning to catalogue artefacts to taking part in a real archaeology dig.
Archaeologists have to identify lots of different artefacts
on site. During this session we will find out what methods they use and have a chance to identify some objects ourselves!

Behind the scenes: handling the collection, Tuesday 19 November 11am - midday
From Roman archaeology to postcards, get hands on with the hidden treasures of the palace' collection.
Feel history in your hands and have a conversation with Lisa, collections and research officer, to find out more about the objects and the stories they tell.
This free drop in event takes place in the Visitor welcome room
Family fun day: the Palace at war, Sunday 24 November, 11am - 3pm
Visit the Palace’s World War I hospital and learn what life was like for the nurses who worked here and the patients they treated. There will be crafts, costume and the chance to get hands on with objects from this period.
This free drop in event is suitable for ages 3+. Children must be accompanied by an adult
Hands on archaeology: the Palace at war, Sunday 24 November, 1pm - 3pm
Discover more about Fulham Palace’s archaeological past and handle objects which have been recovered from this ancient historical site.
Find out how part of a barrage balloon anchor and tin hats are connected to the Palace’s past, as a war hospital during World War I and a WAAF base in World War II.
This free drop in event is taking place as part of the Palace at war family fun day.

On this tour of the house and garden, learn how their passions, wealth and power shaped Fulham Palace. Find out about the mixture of different architectural styles that make up the house, the stories of the Bishops and their families who called the Palace home, and how the 13 acre garden evolved over the centuries to become the beautiful urban oasis it is today.
Sunday 17 November, 2pm - 3pm - Garden Walk
On this tour around Fulham Palace's 13 acre site, hear how successive Bishops of London made their mark on the garden, learn about the unusual specimens grown here today and find out about the exciting projects the gardener team are currently working on to restore this Grade II* listed garden.
Tickets for garden walks and history tours cost £6 per person, accompanied children free. No need to book in advance. Meet at the visitor welcome desk.

These fun and creative facilitated sessions are geared specifically to 2-4 year olds and their adults.

Fulham Palace is also hosting an exhibition: Discovering the Bishop of London’s Palace at Fulham
The first exhibition in the palace's new museum celebrates its recent £3.8 million restoration project, revealing what was involved in this thee year programme to restore and reinterpret the Tudor courtyard and historic rooms and create new plant beds in the botanic garden.
Find out how this complex restoration project has resulted in a richer understanding of the building of Fulham Palace, how the site was used and the people who lived and worked here over the centuries.
Learn about the work carried out by the specialist conservators and craftspeople involved in the project, and the traditional methods they employed to remain faithful to those used at Fulham Palace in the past.
See many of the fascinating finds discovered during the restoration works, from artefacts uncovered through archaeology digs to a 17th century painted wall hidden behind plasterboard.
Learn about the vital role volunteers played in discovering more about Fulham Palace and the Bishops of London through carrying out an extensive archive research project and participating in archaeology digs.
The exhibition is on display until November 2020 and is open from 10.30am till 4pm until 27 March 2020. Admission is free.
