Behind the Scenes: Graining the Great Hall

Find out what's happening behind the scenes in the Great Hall!

Specialist decorators are currently re-graining the wood panelling. This is an old technique which makes woods such as pine look like oak, and much of the panelling in the Great Hall was grained. Layers of dark varnish had hidden the craftsmanship, and today we’re bringing the Great Hall back to its former glory. Find out more about the specialist technique and see how it is transforming the Great Hall.

Free event, meet in reception at 2pm.
