Fulham's New Station and Park Open This Week

You read it here first - September launches at Wharf

As we first revealed in August, Imperial Wharf Station and the development's adjacent public park will both open to the public by the end of September.

Fulham's newest rail station at Imperial Wharf started regular services on Sunday September 27, and will be formally opened by Mayor Boris Johnson on Tuesday September 29.

The long awaited public park, to the west of the riverside development, will have a formal opening ceremony the following day, September 30 before opening its gates to the public.

Imperial Wharf London Overground Station is on the line linking Willesden Junction to Clapham Junction, and provides residents of both Imperial Wharf and neighbouring Chelsea Harbour, as well as residents of Sands End, with a much needed transport link.

For the first time, the north and south of the borough are now linked by rail. From Imperial Wharf, London Overground's new Class 378 trains can take passengers in minutes to either the busy hub of Clapham Junction, West Brompton where they can switch to the District Line, Olympia, or the new Shepherd's Bush Station on the edge of Westfield Shopping Centre.

London Overground says this line will eventually form part of an orbital rail link around London, and passengers can already change at Willesden Junction onto the Richmond to Stratford line.

The line, says London Overground, is due to be developed over the next two years, with upgrades to stations and trains and a service offering four trains every hour. Pay as you go Oyster cards can be used at all London Overground stations.

A new timetable for the line shows a current service of around three trains per hour, including some run by Southern Trains, with journey times from Imperial Wharf of between four and six minutes to Clapham Junction, and between seven and nine minutes to Shepherd's Bush and Westfield.

The park, meanwhile, sitting alongside Imperial Wharf's existing sensory gardens, links Townmead Road to the riverwalk and includes a boating pond and children's playground, providing a very welcome facility for local families.
