Exclusive: Imperial Wharf Station and Park Set to Open

Long awaited events in September

Imperial Wharf's long awaited station and park will both open in September.

The station is due to have an official opening early in the month, with train services beginning immediately.

Transport for London has published a timetable showing all trains on the line stopping at Imperial Wharf, including both London Overground trains running between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction and Southern services which continue north to either Milton Keynes or Watford Junction and south to East Croydon.

The park will open to the public by the end of the month. Situated to the west of the Imperial Wharf's existing sensory gardens, it links Townmead Road and the riverwalk and includes a children's playground and boating pond,

Both of these facilities have been long awaited by residents at the riverside development and the surrounding area. London Overground says the new station will have a full service, and will give people in Sands End easy access to the district line at West Brompton Station and mainline trains at Clapham Junction, both just one stop away. It also means that Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherds Bush is just a few minutes away by train.

London Overground says this line, which will eventually form part of an orbital rail link around London, is due to be developed over the next two years, with upgrades to stations and trains and a service offering four trains every hour. Pay as you go Oyster cards can be used at all London Overground stations.

Imperial Wharf developer St George, which as we reported earlier, is already organising the annual Jazz Festival on September 17 and 18, plans an official launch of the public park in the following week.

We will bring you more details about these events as soon as they are finalised.
