Greg Hands Retains Seat in Chelsea and Fulham

Fights off Liberal Democrat challenge led by Nicola Horlick

Tory candidate Greg Hands has retained his seat in Chelsea and Fulham, fighting off a challenge from 'supermum' Nicola Horlick who was representing the Liberal Democrats. He has increased the size of his majority.

Despite the significant vote in the constituency for Remain, a candidate has been elected who supports the Prime Minister's Brexit deal. Early predictions, based on the Liberal Democrat's strong showing in the European elections, that the seat could change hands proved off the mark. In the event the combined vote of the Remain leaning parties was below Mr Hands.

He managed to increase his vote slightly with the Liberal Democrats gaining votes at the expense of Labour.

The Conservative politician has held the seat during three previous General Elections, in 2010 when the constituency was created, in 2015 and in the previous election in 2017, when his majority, which he described as 'relatively comfortable' was reduced to 8,000.
