Greg Hands Wins Again - But with Much Reduced Majority


Tory Candidate pleased with 'relatively comfortable' 8,000 majority 

Greg Hands has been re-elected MP for the constituency of Chelsea and Fulham, but with a much reduced majority.

The Tory candidate who has been the local MP since 2010 won 22,179 votes.

The Labour candidate Alan De'ath came second with 13,991 votes increasin his party's share by over 10 percentage points, followed by the LibDems' Louise Rowntree with 4,627 who also saw gains on last time out.

On a night proving disastrous for many of his colleagues in the Conservative party, Mr Hands tweeted @GregHands: "Pleased to hold Chelsea & Fulham relatively comfortably with an 8,000 majority. Concerned at the position nationwide, but let's see..."

There was a high turnout in the constituency of 66%, with a total of 43,083 ballot papers.

In the previous General Election in May 2015, the turnout in Chelsea and Fulham was 63.6%, with Greg Hands winning 62.95% of the total vote.
