Four to Stand in Chelsea and Fulham in the Upcoming Election


Candidates from three main parties joined by Animal Welfare Party's Sam Morland

 

Four candidates are hoping to attract votes in the parliamentary constituency of Chelsea and Fulham in the General Election on 12 December.

Candidates from the three main parties will be joined in battle by just one other candidate, Samuel Morland of the Animal Welfare Party.

A prospective Brexit Party candidate is believed to have withdrawn from the race.

Sam Morland, pictured above is one of six Animal Welfare Party candidates standing in the upcoming General Election.

The party used crowdfunding to pay its candidates' deposits and on his Twitter account, @sam_morland, he said: "Proud to be standing in #Chelsea and #Fulham for Animal Welfare Party. Thanks to all the dedicated supporters who have contributed.

"Why am I standing for election? To attempt to fulfil the Animal Welfare Party’s mission: To establish a voice for animals at all levels of political decision-making."

The Animal Welfare Party says: "AWP believes in a better future for people, animals and the environment. Our policies are aimed at creating a fairer, more equitable and sustainable society in which the interests of the environment, people and animals are taken into account.

" Our key policies include:

Redirecting subsidies from livestock and fisheries farming to plant-based agriculture

Promoting healthy plant-based lifestyle initiatives in schools, GP practices and the workplace

Phasing out animal experimentation with binding targets for reduction and funding and support for alternatives

Phasing out farming practices with poor welfare consequences for animals

Increasing penalties for those convicted of animal crueltty."
