Discovery made after resident's deathbed confession
A man whose body was found almost a year ago wrapped in carpet and buried under the patio of a house in Alderville Road in Parsons Green has at last been identified.
He was 63-year-old Mohammed Taki, who was an Iraqi national living as a tenant in a flat within the property at the time of his death, thought to be around 15 to 20 years ago.
Police were led to the address by a tip-off, which is thought to have been a deathbed confession by Roy Heath, 52, who lived at the Alderville Road property.
At the time Heath, who was revealed to be a friend of the notorious gangsters the Kray Brothers, was suffering from terminal cancer.
He was arrested at a hospice in Lambeth but died soon after the body was discovered.
Mr Taki's remains were buried under the patio in the garden of number 38 Alderville Road, which is divided into two flats.
In 1997, Roy Heath was accused of murdering a business rival, but nothing was ever proved and the case was dropped. Police say they are not linking the two cases.
Two people remain on bail on suspicion of murder.
