The opening date for the new Post Office on North End Road has been confirmed for Monday 15 July.

The branch at number 363 in the council’s former Housing Office, which will be managed by postmaster Ajinder Kapoor, will officially open at 1pm.

This will restore Post Office services to the area after the temporary closure of the branch at 254 North End Road, in September last year, due to the resignation of the operator.

The new branch will be officially known as North End Road Post Office and be open a total of 95 hours a week operating as one of the Post Office’s main style branches, offering a wide range of services.

There will be a Post Office full-screened counter and a Post Office serving position alongside the retail counter of the convenience store.

Post Office opening hours for the full-screened counter will be: Monday - Saturday: 9am – 7pm; Sunday: 9am – 5 pm. There will be even longer hours for the Post Office counter at the retail counter of: Monday - Saturday: 8am – 10pm; Sunday: 8am – 7 pm.

A similar range of Post Office services will be available as before, except Passport Check and Send.

The opening came after lobbying by the former MP for Chelsea and Fulham, Greg Hands, who launched a petition for its return. Newly elected Labour MP Ben Coleman, while Deputy Leader of the Council, also worked with the Post Office and Mr Kapoor to facilitate the opening.

Noah Rai, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said, “We are delighted to soon be restoring a Post Office to this area as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.

“We are keen to restore this branch to the area as soon as possible, so we have decided to go ahead with our plans.”

The opportunity to give feedback on access into within the premises will close on 19 July. Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 109008.

Submissions can also be made via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk.
