Firefighters Battle Blaze in Novello Street


Six fire engines called to terraced house fire on Friday

Firefighters spent almost two hours battling a blaze in a house in Novello Street, off Parsons Green Lane on Friday, August 15.

London Fire Brigade says that six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers were called to the fire in a terraced house, which also threatened adjoining houses.

Part of the second floor and roof was damaged by the blaze, which also damaged a small part of a neignbouring roof.

The Brigade says it was called at 4.47pm and the fire was under control by 6.29pm.

Wandsworth, North Kensington, Kensington, Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

Parsons Green Lane was closed to traffic during the incident. Sophie McGurn@sophiemcgurn, who took this photo, tweeted: "Can't believe the beautiful Novello Road is on fire! Hopefully not too much damage! "
