Fire Brigade Called to Fire in Fulham Pub's Basement

Duke on the Green says "it's all good" after firefighters tackle blaze

The Duke on the Green pub on Parsons Green is open for business at lunchtime on Friday May 9, despite a fire in its basement early this morning.

London Fire Brigade says that four engines and 20 firefighters and officers from Wandsworth, Chelsea, Fulham and Hammersmith fire stations attended the scene to tackle the blaze in the basement of the two storey building containing the pub and flats above on New Kings Road.

It was called at 6.56am and the fire was under control at 7.28am.  It left damage to a small part of the pub's basement.

Ten people left the building before the arrival of the Brigade, and no one was injured.

The fire damaged a small part of the basement, and its cause under investigation.

At 10am this morning, the pub confirmed on its Twitter feed DukeGreenSW6: "It's all good @DukeGreenSW6! Word travels faster the wild fire all the way to South Africa! #TeamDuke thanks all our concerned patrons! "
