Two hour battle to control tenth floor fire

Eight fire engines were called to a fire at the Hotel Ibis on Lillie Road on Tuesday lunchtime.

London Fire Brigade says around 40 firefighters spent over two hours tackling the fire on the 10th floor of the 504 room, 13 storey hotel.

Around 150 people were evacuated from the building before the Brigade arrived.

The room where the fire started was badly damaged, but it’s not thought anyone was injured.

The Fire Brigade's full report on the incident says that it was called at 1.38pm and the fire was under control by 3.45pm. Firefighters from Kensington, Fulham, Hammersmith, Wandsworth, Knightsbridge, Battersea and North Kensington fire stations were in attendance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
