Man Charged with St Mark's Grove Murder

A 46-year-old man has been charged with murder after a body was found in a flat off the Fulham Road.

Mohammed Assri, of no fixed abode, is accused of killing of James Dowdell in St Mark’s Grove SW10.

He is remanded in police custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday 21 February.

Paramedics had found an unresponsive man at around 6.50pm on Monday, 17 February suffering from head injuries who they pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death as strangulation and blunt force trauma.

The next of kin have been informed and, while formal identification has yet to take place, the police believe the victim is James Dowdell.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime South (Homicide) are investigating, led by DCI Simon Harding.
