Shane Douglas
A manhunt has been launched for violent burglar Shane Douglas, who was jailed for attacking a pensioner in Fulham.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for the public’s help to track down Douglas, 41, who absconded from HMP Springhill.
on Saturday 9 November between 9am and 9pm.
Police say he is black, about 6ft 5ins tall with a stocky build, clean shaven, with short, cropped hair or a shaved head.
Douglas is known to frequent Hammersmith and Brixton.
Douglas, who lived in Rosaville Road in Fulham was sentenced to ten years in jail on Friday March 11, 2016 at Isleworth Crown Court for the crime, which occurred in October 2015.
He pleaded guilty at the same court on January 18, 2016.
Douglas forced his way in to a house where a married couple, a man aged 71 and his wife 63, were at home.
Once inside, Douglas demanded money and jewellery from the woman. When her husband confronted him, Douglas attempted to use a stun gun on him.
When this failed, he punched and kicked the man before throwing him to the floor and stealing a Gold Rolex wristwatch from his wrist.
The watch, which had sentimental value for the victim has never been found.
London Ambulance Service was called to the scene and the victim was treated for injuries.
Douglas was linked to the incident through fingerprints found at the scene and was arrested on October 5, 2015 and subsquently charged.
At the time, DC Ben Kirkham from Hammersmith CID said: "Shane Douglas is a dangerous individual who did not hesitate to use violence on the elderly victims of this offence.
" I hope the sentence passed down today serves as some comfort to the victims of this serious crime who were left traumatised by the incident and will now be able to start moving on with their lives."
This week, investigating officer Detective Sergeant Justin Harris, based at Aylesbury police station, said: "I am appealing for information which will help us find Shane Douglas.
" If you see him, please do not approach him, instead call us on 999.
" Anyone with any other details should call us on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 43190350864."
