Two Teens Appear in Court Charged with Murder of Amrou Greenidge

Police believe four others assaulted him after he was knocked down in Broomhouse Lane

Victim - 18 year-old Amrou Greenidge

Police believed that after being knocked off his bike by a Mini driven by two teenagers aged 16 and 17, Amrou Greenidge, 18, was then assaulted and beaten by four others.

Amrou was found by police lying in Fulham's Broomhouse Road, between Sulivan Court Estate and Hurlingham Park on Sunday afternoon. He had suffered severe head injuries and died later in hospital.

Two teenagers were arrested on Monday, 19 August. A 17 year-old youth was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon on Tuesday, 20 August and a 16 year-old youth was charged with murder in connection with the death on Wednesday, 21 August.

Both were kept in custody and appeared today at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court.

Police say 18 year-old Amrou Greenidge, who lived in the area, is believed to have been riding a pedal bike through the Sulivan Court estate near Broomhouse Lane at around 2.42pm when he was in a collision with a Mini and then allegedly assaulted.

He was found by paramedics with serious head injuries. The driver of the car did not stop at the scene.

Amrou was taken to a west London hospital in a critical condition and died of his injuries on Tuesday, 20 August.

A 19 year-old-man has also been arrested on suspicion of murder, but is currently being treated in hospital for burn injuries.  Witnesses reported seeing the Mini set on fire in nearby Dymock Street.

A vigil for Amrou took place last night, and a growing number of flowers have been laid at the scene of the attack.

Police say there will continue to be police patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the community.
