Gary Lashko OBE meets staff at The Stoll Foundation
August 26, 2025
The Stoll Foundation, the Fulham-based charity providing supported housing for military veterans, has announced the appointment of Gary Lashko OBE as the incoming Chair of its Board of Trustees. Mr Lashko will succeed Air Vice-Marshal Ray Lock CBE JP, who is set to retire from the role in December after eight years of service.
Ray Lock’s tenure as Chair has been marked by significant milestones, including guiding the charity through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and securing long-term housing solutions that aim to safeguard the organisation’s future for the next century. His leadership has been widely credited with strengthening the charity’s resilience and expanding its capacity to support veterans in need.
Gary Lashko brings more than four decades of experience in charitable housing and mental health services to the role. He most recently served as Chief Executive of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, a position he held for over eight years until his retirement in March 2024. His work at the Royal Hospital earned him an OBE and is seen as evidence of his commitment to veteran welfare and organisational leadership.
In a statement following his appointment, Mr Lashko expressed enthusiasm for the role, describing The Stoll Foundation as “a historic charity with a bright future.” He emphasised the importance of secure and affordable housing for veterans and said he looked forward to working with the charity’s team to continue delivering high-quality support across its sites.
Outgoing Chair Ray Lock also welcomed the appointment, noting their shared commitment to maintaining the charity’s momentum. Lock said he was proud of the progress made during his tenure and looked forward to collaborating with Mr Lashko during the transition period to ensure continuity in strategic planning and service delivery.
Will Campbell-Wroe, Chief Executive of The Stoll Foundation, praised both leaders, stating that Lashko’s extensive experience and proven leadership made him an ideal successor. He also thanked Ray Lock for his dedication and guidance, which he said had helped steer the charity through difficult times and into a promising new phase.
The leadership transition comes at a time of continued demand for veteran housing and support services.
