Royal Trinity Hospice’s Fulham charity shop has taken the title of London winner in The UK’s Favourite Charity Shop Awards.

The shop was one of 6,500 that were nominated across the UK and claimed the winning spot in a public vote involving almost 13,000 people.

The awards are the first of their kind and were launched in June to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Charity Retail Association, the membership organisation for charity shops in the UK.

Trinity is a local hospice for south west and central London, providing free specialist palliative and end of life care.

Daniel Holloway, Director of Retail at Royal Trinity Hospice, said, “We are thrilled that Royal Trinity Hospice’s Fulham shop has been crowned London’s favourite charity shop by voters. Our Fulham store benefits from the loyal support of hundreds of people in the surrounding community, and they make it a fantastic place to shop through their hours of volunteering, top-notch donations and of course, by shopping with us.

“Together with the talented staff team, they have turned the Fulham store into a valued local gem and a destination for fans of preloved fashion looking for extra special pieces in a beautiful, welcoming environment. This award is a wonderful way to celebrate the team, their skill and dedication to making Royal Trinity Hospice Fulham London’s best charity shop and in doing so, raising vital funds for a hospice supporting people locally.”

Charity shops have seen a rise in popularity in recent years as the public look for more ways to shop sustainably, support good causes and give back to their communities.

Robin Osterley, Chief Executive of the Charity Retail Association, said, “Huge congratulations to Royal Trinity Hospice. This award is a testament to the dedication of the shop’s staff and volunteers, and highlights what this wonderful store means to the local community. We have been overwhelmed by the public’s response to our search for the UK’s Favourite Charity Shop, which celebrates the contribution the sector makes to communities and good causes across the UK.”
