Man Dies After Being Hit By White Lorry in Earl's Court


Driver of vehicle has been traced and is helping police with enquiries

A 71-year-old man has died after being hit by a lorry outside Earl's Court tube station.

An appeal was made early to trace the lorry which did not stop at the scene. It is believed that the driver may have been unaware that he had hit a pedestrian. The driver, who is a man in his forties, has now been found. He has not been arrested and has been assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) continue though to appeal for witnesses and information following the collision which took place some time before 9.25pm on Friday, 23 September on the Earl's Court Road.

London's Air Ambulance attended the scene and the victim was taken to a central London hospital where he died a short time later.

Police believe they know the identity of the deceased, but await formal identification and confirmation that next of kin have been informed.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are investigating.
