Sadiq Khan's housing advisor takes over Steve Pound's seat
Ealiing-born James Murray, a former Islington Councillor who has served London Mayor as deputy for housing has retained the Ealing North seat for Labour with a majority of over 12,000 votes.
He was chosen as the candidate after the highly popular Steve Pound (who originally won the seat in 1997) announced he wouldn't be standing again.
Mr Murray grew up in the constituency, just off Argyle Road. During the campaign he said ''If I am elected, I will always be at the heart of the community. I will stand up for what matters to you. I will fight to make private renting more affordable and secure, for a new green economy with high-quality jobs, and for the investment in our NHS and social care we need.''
He polled over 6,000 votes fewer than his predecessor with the three other parties all seeing some increase in their vote.
