Local Group Launch Survey On Lend Lease Project

To discover how residents really feel about plans for Empire House

The Chiswick High Road Action Group (CHRAG) is conducting a survey to find out how residents feel about the proposed Lend Lease development at Empire House and Essex Place.

You can participate in the survey here

Lend Lease has submitted plans to create 137 new dwellings in the middle of Chiswick High Road overlooking Turnham Green Church.

Under the plans currently proposed, Empire House will increase in height by 2.4m, there will be 3 new high rise towers (7 stories, 8 stories, and 5-6 stories).

The development of the 1.3 acre plot between Chiswick High Road, Acton Lane and Essex Place is likely to represent the biggest change to the central area of Chiswick since WW2.

The Empire House tower block will also see a change from office to residential with new retail frontage of seven units along the High Road.

CHRAG (and other groups) believe that the existing design is too high and not in keeping with the environment.

To make space for this development they propose to convert the existing office block, enlarging it by two further storeys of penthouse apartments to make 13 storeys and adding protruding balconies, as well as building two new high-rise blocks in Essex Place upon existing car parks behind Chiswick High Road.

"Lend Lease told CHRAG their plans have overwhelming public support; indeed, they said local residents think their plans were not ambitious enough.

"Please answer a few short questions to tell CHRAG what you think about this plan."
