Neighbours and victim chase the suspect along Airedale Avenue
A Chiswick woman gave chase to a man after he threatened her with a knife in her kitchen and then fled with her property. The incident happened in in Airedale Avenue last night.
The 58-year old victim was in the kitchen area of her home at around 9.40 pm when the intruder burst into the room brandishing a knife. He then grabbed her handbag, laptop and an Ipad before fleeing the house via the front door.
She gave chase and this alerted neighbours in the street who joined her in trying to stop the man but they were unsuccessful. The suspect was last seen heading towards the A4 before disappearing out of sight.
DS Stewart Liddle-Peters from Hounslow police said: "Fortunately the victim was not hurt during the burglary but was left very shaken. This is a particularly nasty incident whereby a suspect has entered a home and threatened a lone female.
"There would have been a number of people around at this time in the area that may be able to help us identify him.
"He was male of thin build, about 5ft10" wearing either a black or dark green jacket. He may have had a balaclava.
"Did you see anyone who fits this description or acting suspiciously in the area at the time of this offence? If so, please contact police on 020 8247 6650 or if you wish to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 55 111."
