Four people were injured in the blast caused by a suspected gas leak

The London Fire Brigade has reported that a man in his eighties, who was rescued from the block of flats on Garratt Lane hit by an explosion last week, has now died.
Shortly before 7.25pm last Wednesday (July 21st) the emergency services were called to the block on and found that the ground floor level of the three storey building had been destroyed by the blast.
Four others were also injured in what is believed to have been a gas explosion which is now being investigated by the police and fire brigade.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters dealt with the incident, with the deceased man being rescued from the affected flat and taken to hospital where he died earlier this week.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and local bus routes were diverted.
Resident living nearby are reported to have heard an huge "bang" which "rocked"' their homes.
