Wormholt Park Primary Pupils Pop Up on This Morning


Children have splashing time testing water pistols on daytime TV show

 

For six lucky children from White City primary school Wormholt Park, the summer holidays started early as they visited Television Centre in Wood Lane to test the latest summer games for ITV’s daytime show This Morning.

The testing ground was Television Centre's forecourt gardens, where the children had fun trying out a mixture of water pistols and garden games.

The highlight however was as well as having the chance to offer their assessment of a giant inflatable unicorn.

Presented by This Morning’s Alison Hammond, the children evaluated the games through a series of a different tests, including finding out which of this year’s best water pistols have the greatest power and most accurate aim by shooting a pyramid tower of cans from a distance.

The feature ended with a with water fight with all the children getting the chance to soak each other and Alison having to duck for cover.

On Wednesday 11 July a second group o green fingered students from Wormholt Park Primaryl visited Television Centre for a morning of activities planned by onsite gardener’s Tony and Harrison from Gavin Jones Landscaping.

The children were invited by developers Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo to give theri ideas abou creating and promoting green areas in cities.

In an introductory talk Tony explained how the Television Centre gardens were developed to include plants chosen specifically to suit urban environments and the role of the gardening team in ensuring the area flourishes.

The 12 students then split into two teams, the first given a booklet of trees found on-site and challenge to hunt them down based on their unique features.

The second group identified the varied vegetation in the Television Centre plant pots, competing amongst one another to see how many different types of bugs they could discover.

After a break consisting of squash and biscuits where the children shared their exciting findings the two teams swapped activities. The morning ended with a question and answer session with Tony where the students discussd what they had learned and the importance of environmentally friendly open spaces.
