Fashion Giant YOOX Net-a-Porter First to Move into White City Place
New Tech Hub in The MediaWorks on Wood Lane to have up to 650 staff
Online fashion giant YOOX Net-a-Porter is to become the first to move into the The MediaWorks building in White City Place - the former BBC Media Village on Wood Lane.
Developers Stanhope and Mitsui, who bought the building from the BBC
last year for £87 million, have announced the YOOX Net-a-Porter, or YNAP will be occupying 70,000 sq ft of office space as a cutting edge Tech Hub, which will accommodate up to 650 members of the global technology team, bringing all its UK technology teams into one location.
The MediaWorks accommodation will be ready for YNAP’s technology team to occupy by March 2017 and adds that it will have flexible space to accommodate future growth.
YNAP was created through the merger of Italian fashion group Yoox and Net-a-Porter, which is based at offices in nearby Westfield.
David Camp, Chief Executive of Stanhope says: " We are delighted to welcome YNAP to White City Place, which is fast becoming the key creative hub in West London and the commercial heart of White City.
" At White City Place we are networked for creative thought and provide the high speed IT connectivity, tech infrastructure and social amenity that businesses like YNAP demand.”
Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor of London for Business and Enterprise, adds: " I am delighted that there will be yet more new tech jobs coming to the capital. This highlights once again that London is open for business, new investment and global talent."
Stanhope says YNAP will be able to take advantage of the superfast IT network broadband connections, great transport links and new independent restaurants and cafes and public space that White City Place will soon provide.
The MediaWorks is the second of three buildings under redevelopment at White City Place, along with the Garden House and the Gateway Site. More than than 3,000 BBC staff already on site work on the site in three buildings leased by the BBC.
The developer says at the heart of White City Place will be a new Central Avenue offering a range of exciting and emerging retail, restaurants, bars, sat either side of the new public realm.
Major landscaping and infrastructure works are nearing completion to significantly improve the public realm on site including gardens and a central square whilst work is also underway to reinforce the connections with the nearby stations White City & Wood Lane, Television Centre and Imperial College White City Campus.
