Tiger Feet 8 Set for Saturday 18 March

Fundraising walk for Down's Syndrome team a highlight of QPR Community Day

This Saturday, 18 March is QPR Community Day - and the day an army of 45 supporters will take to the streets for Tiger Feet 8.

Tiger Feet, which this year is a 13 mile walk from the football team's Harlington training ground to Loftus Road, is an annual fundraiser for the QPR Tiger Cubs, the club's team for children and young people with Down's Syndrome.

After the huge success of Tiger Feet 7 last season, which raised in excess of £14,000 for the QPR Tiger Cubs, this season’s walk leaves the Middlesex training ground at 8.30am and finishes at Loftus Road in time for QPR’s home fixture versus Rotherham United.

Along the way, they will stop in at PlayFootball, South Africa Road, where the Tiger Cubs are participating in QPR's Community Day mini-tournament. the Tiger Cubs will then join the walkers for the short walk to the ground.

Run in partnership with the Down’s Syndrome Association, the Tiger Cubs project aims to create a multi-tier learning environment that will improve the participants’ overall physical, social and emotional health.

The money raised from the walk goes directly to the team to cover their expenses; assist with future projects; and further extending new opportunities for the project.

The walk will be the highlight of a number of community-based activities taking place on the day of the Hoops’ clash against the Millers, and Trust Business Development Manager, Fiona Hodgson, is looking forward to the latest fundraiser.

"The Tiger Feet walks have gone from strength to strength, year on year," she says.

"We were so delighted with how the walk went last year, with the QPR family showing amazing support - and we're all very grateful for any support that can be given for our trek from Harlington to Loftus Road in March.

"We are very proud of the Tiger Cubs project and are very grateful for the opportunities that this fundraiser enables us to deliver.

"We've raised some over £75,000 over the last six years with walks to Crystal Palace, Watford, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Charlton and West Ham – and long may that continue."

In addition, the club have also run a special ticket offer for the day, with other public sector and charity workers, along with sports club volunteers, offered discounted £9.99 tickets for the Rotherham match.

QPR CEO, Lee Hoos, says: "QPR has the community at its heart, so we wanted to show our gratitude to those unsung heroes whose contribution to the community often goes unnoticed."
