Group holds meeting to air and share views
A new group has been set up to bring local police and members of different faith groups together to give both sides an opportunity to air and share their views.
The group, which is known as the Faith Independent Advisory Group, is made up of the Shepherd's Bush Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team and various faith groups from in and around the Shepherd's Bush Green area.
Holding their inaugural meeting on Thursday July 16th the group discussed how information could be shared over police operations or serious crime issues, so that faith leaders could take information back to their communities to update and reassure them.
Sergeant Finbar King from Shepherd's Bush Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: “Crime is reducing in Shepherd's Bush but we still have a lot of work to do and strengthening our working partnerships will ensure that we can be even more successful in the future.”
Officers say they hope the group will be able to help the local police team by offering guidance on policy matters which affect the various communities, as well as with high profile and serious incidents.
There has been regular police contact with various faith groups in the past, but no forum where they could all get together to share their views on policing practices and community engagement.
The Shepherd's Bush Safer Neighbourhoods Team say they intend to hold regular meetings with the group in future.
