Play Day 2009 in Ravenscourt Park
Thousands of children, parents, carers and play workers are expected to descend on Ravenscourt Park on Wednesday August 5 for Hammersmith & Fulham’s annual Play Day event.
This summer’s play extravaganza will feature fun and games for people of all ages. The theme for 2009 is 'make time for play’.
Activities will take place from 12noon until 4pm and will include giant inflatables, a city farm, circus skills, softplay for toddlers and a chance to take part in numerous sporting activities. There will be opportunities to try facepainting and den making and there will also be stalls offering information on childcare, recycling and road safety.
Cllr Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents' services, said: "This year's Play Day promises to be bigger and better than ever before and I urge as many people as possible to get down to Ravenscourt Park on Wednesday August 5. Play Day is always a highlight of the summer so let’s hope that the sun shines and makes it a truly memorable occasion."
Families are invited to bring a picnic, and also reminded to bring their sun cream and hats. Play Day involves more than 100,000 children taking part in hundreds of activities throughout the UK, from big public events to small gatherings. It is co-ordinated by two charities: the Children’s Society and the Children’s Play Council.
