Residents living near Westfield and Loftus Road asked for input
Residents living near the Westfield shopping centre and QPR FC are being asked how Hammersmith & Fulham Council can make parking easier for them.
The council says those living in Controlled Parking Zone J (CPZ J), shown on the map here, will shortly receive a consultation booklet and response questionnaire asking for their input on parking controls.
The CPZ currently operates from 9am until 5pm on Monday to Friday with no restrictions at the weekends, but H&F have received reports of residents struggling to find parking spaces in the area at evenings and weekends.
A public consultation into revised proposals for the zone is now underway.
" On QPR’s match days and busy weekends residents living near Loftus Road Stadium, the Westfield shopping centre and Uxbridge Road often find their roads clogged with the cars of shoppers or football fans and there are no parking spaces for them," says Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Council Cabinet Member for Transport, Environment and Residents’ Services.
" Equally, there are also lots of residents who are happy with the current system, so it is important we hear from as many Zone J residents as possible to enable us to come up with the best solution."
Currently H&F operates a shared-used parking bay system on residential streets in CPZ J, which allows vehicles to park in the designated bays and either, display a valid resident permit or SMART Visitor Permit (SVP), or to use the nearby pay and display ticket machines.
Residents are being asked to consider several parking options, including making no changes, as part of the consultation.
As well as the paper questionnaires, the survey can also be completed online.
