A teenager has died after being stabbed in Shepherd’s Bush this Wednesday evening (26 June). Police have issued an appeal to find two males seen running from the scene.
They were called to the Uxbridge Road at 9.30pm after the 18-year-old was found with a knife injury. The London Air Ambulance was also called to the scene.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead a short while later.
Police have now informed his next of kin although he has not yet been formally identified. A post-mortem examination will be held at Uxbridge Mortuary on Friday, 28 June.
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading this investigation in close partnership with police in Hammersmith and Fulham. They are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and speak with them.
Detective Chief Inspector Rob Pack said, “I would like to hear from local residents or anyone who was in the area at the time of the stabbing who is yet to come forward.
“We have already carried out extensive CCTV enquiries in the vicinity and I am now particularly keen to speak with anyone who saw two males, possibly aged in their teens, who we know ran from the scene heading in the direction of Wormholt Park.
“They then took the underpass under the Westway towards East Acton Underground Station. This is a busy area and a number of people would have been in the area at the time. Did you see them? They may well have stood out as they would have been out of breath.
“It is important that we speak with them and find out exactly what happened.”
Detective Inspector Luke Wyllie from Hammersmith and Fulham said, “A young man’s life has been tragically cut short. Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this very difficult time. We are doing everything we can to apprehend those involved.
“Extra police and specialist units are working on the ground now to build a clearer picture of what took place and work to protect and reassure those in the local community. A Section 60 has been authorised in the Shepherd's Bush and Notting Hill areas until the afternoon of Thursday, 27 June.”
Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference 8782/26 June.
