Last Chance to Speak Up on Super Sewer Today
Final drop-in exhibition held in Broomhouse Lane
Today, Friday December 16 is the final day of Thames Water's series of drop-in exhibitions over its revised plans for the Thames Tunnel, or super sewer as it is widely known.
The exhibition began yesterday at Parsons Green Sports & Social Club in Broomhouse Lane, a venue suggested by RATS, who are opposed to the proposed use of Carnwath Road Riverside (pictured right) as a major construction site for the Thames Tunnel.
It will be open today at the club from 2pm till 8pm, and representatives from Thames Water will be on hand to discuss the project with members of the public.
Thames Water held another three day exhibition at the beginning of the month in Parsons Green, while Hammersmith and Fulham Council held its own controversial "summit meeting".
Thames Water said of this meeting: " This was an important, challenging, but welcome opportunity to speak face-to-face with approximately 300 locals potentially directly affected by our proposed use of Hurlingham Wharf, Whiffin Wharf and the Carnwath Road Industrial Estate.
The public are also invited to comment on its revised plans for the tunnel on the consultation website.
Last month local campaigners reacted with fury to the news that Thames Water had chosen Carnwath Road on Fulham's riverside as its preferred site for the construction of an access shaft to the tunnel, switching from its original preferred site across the river at Barn Elms.
Thames Water have also produced an image of what the building on the Carnwath Road site, currently used for open storage, may look like.
