Sixth Arrest Relating To St Paul's 'Abuse' Claims

A 68-year-old man was arrested this week on suspicion of sexual assault on a child at a west London school. It was the sixth arrest in connection with police investigation Operation Winthorpe, into allegations of historical sex abuse at the prestigious St Paul's School.

The man has been bailed to return to a west London police station on a date in early October.

One man has already been charged in connection with the investigation.

Anthony Fuggle, 57 (7/11/56) of Sandy Lane, Sutton , a former Classics teacher at Colet Court, is currently bailed to appear at Kingston Crown Court on 17 September charged with 11 offences of making indecent images of children; and six of possessing indecent images of children.

Three other people arrested - a 65-year-old man, a 67-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman - remain on bail pending further enquires. All are due to return on dates in early September.

A 59-year-old man had also been arrested but he was later released with no further action.

St Paul's and its prep school Colet Court are regarded as amongst the best schools in Britain and attract boys from all over west and south-west London including Barnes, Putney, Chiswick, East Sheen and Ealing.
