Police investigating as more former pupils come forward

Fresh revelations have emerged about decades of alleged sexual abuse at St Paul's Boys and its prep school Colet Court in Barnes.

Police are investigating after a number of pupils who attended the schools between the 1960s and 1980s have come forward with new information.

According to the Times newspaper, which broke the story last month, so many complaints have been made in the past fortnight that the police are investigating more than six "persons of interest" who taught at the school.

Police began a criminal inquiry into decades of alleged sexual abuse at the top boys’ public school, as it emerged that a current teacher was arrested just six months ago for possessing indecent images of children.

St Paul's and Colet Court are regarded as amongst the best schools in Britain and attract boys from all over west and south-west London including Barnes, Chiswick, Putney and Ealing. It was attended by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne.

A classics teacher at Colet Court resigned some months ago after he was arrested and bailed on suspicion of possession of indecent images. Another former teacher at the school has also been arrested and bailed as part of the investigation, according to the Times newspaper.

Last month the Times claimed that six teachers at the prestigious St. Paul's School were responsible for historical sexual abuse of pupils.
