The Spirit of Jazz Comes to St Andrew's Church

Enjoy a musical journey on Saturday with Addison Singers' choirs

The Addison Singers bring the Spirit of Jazz to St Andrew's Church, Fulham Fields in Greyhound Road on Saturday 1 December.

Addison Singers present The Spirit of Jazz at St Andrew's Fulham Fields

The Addison Jazz Choir, Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Trio will take you on a musical journey from spirituals, early jazz and gospel to recent hits.

Compare the spirituals Precious Lord Take my Hand and Soon and Very Soon to the modern hit Rise Up. Hear the Gospel/Spiritual influence in songs Lean on Me and We Shall Overcome. Stuff Like That There has the lilting beat belonging to Boogie Woogie and The Jitterbug performed in the Wizard of Oz, a distinct Ragtime influence. Trace the harmonies and arrangements of Swing-feel songs Old Devil Moon and I’m Walking to songs played by the big bands of the 30s and 40s.

Whatever their lineage, these songs and more will uplift your soul and set your toes a-tapping.

The Addison Singers' 50 strong women’s Jazz Choir and mixed voice Ensemble are accompanied by a terrific band of talented musicians, conducted by Jill Jarman and Matthew Hough.

Join this joyous celebration designed to entertain the whole family Saturday at 7.30pm, with doors open from 6.45pm. Tickets costing £10 or £3 for under 16s can be purchased here or purchased on the door for £12 or £3 for under 16s.
